When it comes to blogging I get one question asked over, and over, and OVER again. “How do I start a blog?” As much as I would truly love to help people branch into the world of blogging, that is such an open-ended question and I have NO idea where to start with it.
I can however, give you 5 reasons not to start a blog…
If you are starting a blog with the only intention being to make money, don’t do it. You don’t just start a blog and wham bam thank you ma’am you’re making money! Blogging takes a lot of work. It takes effort and time and patience. If you’re wanting to make money quick, get a real J.O.B. With that being said, people DO make SERIOUS money blogging. It just doesn’t happen over night. 😉
Without fail, I will ALWAYS get messages after a review post is up asking how other people can get free stuff sent to them. Again, this is not a reason to start a blog. When you start a blog you aren’t put on some magical list where people send you things. This again takes time, effort, and patience. You have to network. You have to “prove yourself” in the blogging world. Companies want someone who is going to write them a good honest review. Not just someone who wants free stuff. I mean, that makes sense, right?!
If you start a blog and think your instagram followers are going to dramatically increase, you’re wrong. There ARE bloggers out there with THOUSANDS of followers, but again, this isn’t something that happens over night. Instagram takes time, a ton of hashtags, and the perfect filters. Not even sorry about the amount of hashtags I use. Get on that Instagram game and maybe you’ll be the next big thaaaaang. #werk #fingersnap
This is just ridiculous. Who even starts a blog with this as a goal?
I’m not kidding. Starting a blog for these two reasons is silly. Start a blog because you have something to share. Start a blog because you’re crafty and want a place to showcase it. Start a blog because you have no friends. Start a blog because you live in a small town, with no Starbucks, and you have no friends and you don’t even have a store to shop at and because you really like baking cupcakes.
I hope this post helped you guys! 😉

Thanks for posting this. I think there are too many people out there just trying to make money off of ads and become internet famous overnight. I started my blog for me and anyone who manages to find it through Google. 🙂
