Watercolor prints have always fascinated me. Mainly because I am the LEAST artistic person I know. I’m that person who even has ugly stick figure people. It’s horrible.
I “met” Emily in a Facebook group. Welcome to 2018! It is so fun to see all the friends the internet has brought my way! She is so beyond kind and a total BABE! She is the owner of EmichkaDecor, and you can find her Etsy page HERE, and her Instagram page HERE!
I wanted to ask Emily a few questions to share here on the blog, in addition to the gorgeous painting she did for me!
1. Have you always done watercolor prints like the ones in your Etsy Shop? What is your inspiration?
“I have always loved art but I started watercolor January of 2017 in a watercolor class at BYU. Then I did the Portland Temple for my sister who was coming home from her mission in Portland. Then it took off! Starting mu business has been a REALLY great thing for me because I started just after my first baby was born and I was feeling like I didn’t have anything in my life that really made me ME. I felt like all of a sudden I was a mom and that’s what I was limited to. I needed something for myself.”
2. What has been your favorite piece so far or your favorite type to do?
“My favorite piece so far has been a self portrait I did of my son and I. It’s huge – about 30×22.
As for regular orders I do, my favorites are the house portraits. They are so sentimental and I love how unique every single house order I get is!”
3. What is your favorite guilty pleasure drink?!
“My favorite guilty pleasure drink is Diet Coke FOR SURE! I always made fun of my mom for her Diet Coke addiction and now here I am…hooked!”
4. What is your favorite thing to do on the weekend?!
“My favorite thing to do on the weekends is be outside! Our family loves adventures!! Hiking, camping, running, hammocking, and just taking walks and going on drives through the canyon. We love the outdoors!”
When Emily asked what portrait I would want done, I chose the Snowflake LDS Temple. Mainly because it is close to where I live and I wanted to get some great shots of it, but also because it’s just a beautiful building! My house is less than “portrait worthy” on the outside, so I wanted to go a different route. But have you SEEN her house portraits?! Guys. I’m dying over them. When we have our “forever home”, I am totally getting one done!
The colors in her work are absolutely breathtaking and her attention to detail is captivating. I wish you all could get a CLOSE look at the portrait of the Snowflake Temple. I was blown away!
If you guys are needing ANY prints done, please reach out to this sweet girl. I did receive my portrait in exchange for this post, but all opinions are my own and I am in LOVE with her work. Don’t miss out on this! Also, she does Thank You Cards that are the CUTEST. I will link them HERE! And THANK YOU, Emily, for the sweetest gift. I can’t wait to frame it and get it hung in our home!
